Pele: Today, A Football Legend Died

Before the debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo took over the football world, there were two football greats who ruled the world of football during their era, they were Pele and Diego Maradona.

They were two standouts in their era that reigned supreme and won all there was to be won in global football, but as time proves the enemy of the mortal man, eras must end, and stories become history.

It started with the sad death of Diego Maradona a few years ago, and just Thursday night, comes the confirmation that Brazilian legend, Edson Arantes do Nascimento commonly known as Pele is dead.

Widely regarded by FIFA as one of the greatest players of his generation, Pele was the joint top scorer for Brazil with 77 goals in 92 games while serving at club level as Santos’ record goal scorer with 643 goals in 659 games.

At the age of 82, Brazilian football legend Pelé passed away after dealing with an ailment for weeks that left the former footballer hospitalized in critical condition.

On Thursday night, 29th December 2022 his passing was announced by his family.

The legendary football player is regarded as one of the sport’s all-time greats.

Since having surgery to remove a tumor from his colon back in September 2021, Pele had been getting routine medical care but was readmitted to the hospital towards the end of 2022.

Tonight, the football world stands still in unity for a legend.
