PDP National officer, Magaji Alhassan dumps party

A National member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Kaduna State, Magaji Alhassan, has tendered his resignation from the party.

Alhassan conveyed his decision through a letter dated October 5th, 2023, addressed to the acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum.

Simultaneously, Magaji Alhassan also formally announced his withdrawal from the PDP in another letter, this time directed to the party’s acting chairman of Kwabai B ward in the Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

This letter was dated October 7th, 2023. In the letter to the ward chairman, he returned his PDP membership card, signifying his departure from the party.

It is notable that Alhassan did not provide a specific reason for his resignation from the PDP.

Nevertheless, the Magaji Alhassan exit follows a recent trend in Kaduna State, where several PDP members have opted to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

On October 10, a significant development unfolded as 19 councilors and their supporters from all 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Kaduna formally left the PDP to align themselves with the APC.

During a press conference held in the state capital, these councillors cited their decision as a response to the effective and purposeful leadership demonstrated by Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, since he took office.
