Why PDP Must Save Nigeria From Current Amateur Leaders – Lamido
Former governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Sule Lamido has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to remain committed to the project of chasing out “amateur leaders” currently running the government.
He said this in Abia on Friday during a visit to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
Lamido, one of the aspirants seeking the presidential ticket of PDP, warned that if the former ruling party failed to win the 2019 general election “the current political actors will completely destroy Nigeria.”
He lamented that PDP was blackmailed and hounded out of power by people that know nothing about governance and only employ propaganda to cover up their inadequacies and failings.
“PDP was blackmailed in 2015 and people who preach hate came on board,” he said.
“Since then, the Nigerian situation has been going from bad to worse with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) unable to provide any solution.
“We are now more divided – clashes between brothers, neighbours against neighbours. How long will these killings continue?
“I’m willing to partner other PDP leaders across the nation to discuss and work out how we can save Nigeria.”
Lamido noted that the APC leaders are “wonderful liars” always blaming PDP for all their failings and inability to fulfill their campaign promises.
Speaking, Ikpeazu said, “there is no gainsaying the fact that our country is on the precipice”.
“I feel a sense of personal loss because of the divisive tendencies in Nigeria today.
“I attended University of Maiduguri and also did my national youth service in the north without any fear of hatred and insecurity.
“In the past three years we’ve come to see the orchestration of those things that divide us.
“Instead of talking about provision of basic amenities like electricity, good roads, quality health care, we are talking about religion, ethnicity and hatred.
“I really fear for Nigeria. Nigerians are now very apprehensive of everything; we are suspicious and don’t trust the present government.”
Ikpeazu, however, advised Lamido to be prepared for the propaganda machine of APC as he forges ahead with his ambition..
