PDP lawmakers resolve to reclaim presidency, set deadline for security reform

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) faction in the House of Representatives has made a firm commitment to reclaiming the presidency, underlining that it is their party’s “birthright.”

The minority faction, led by Rep. Chinda Kingsley, revealed their ideas during a press briefing after their third meeting in Abuja.

The faction articulated a plan aimed at renewing their opposition role in parliament to magnify the people’s voices.

They emphasized the importance of tackling the country’s security concerns, imposing a strict three-month deadline on the Federal Government to normalize the situation.

Rep. Kingsley underscored the urgency of Nigeria’s security problem, noting that the country cannot afford to be associated with expressions like ‘one life, one minute silence.’ If significant changes are not seen within the timeframe specified, the caucus has committed to step up their efforts to engage and mobilize residents to take charge of their own security.

Furthermore, the PDP parliamentarians expressed their determination to work for internal party reconciliation, to resolve outstanding legal issues that have hampered the nomination of a substantive National Chairman.

They urged PDP leaders to remain unwaveringly committed to the party’s beliefs and seek to restore its reputation as Africa’s largest party.

Finally, Rep. Kingsley emphasized the unity and dedication of PDP members in the House of Representatives, stating that they are ready to serve as watchdogs for the Nigerian people.
