Pastor separates from wife after herbalist died on her during sex

Pastor Joshua Ajagunigbala’s marriage to Rita Ajagunigbala has been dissolved by a court in Ekiti State, Nigeria, due to claims that his wife had an affair with a herbalist that resulted in the herbalist’s death.

The court ruling was made by Mr. Joseph Oyedele, the President of the Court.

According to Pastor Ajagunigbala, the incident occurred on January 2nd, 2023, when his wife and the herbalist were found in a hotel in Ikere-Ekiti engaged in sexual intercourse, resulting in a commotion.

Subsequently, thugs reportedly destroyed Pastor Ajagunigbala’s house and church in Ikere. As a result of the scandal, Pastor Ajagunigbala was suspended by his church authority, and he expressed his lack of interest in continuing the marriage.

Mrs. Ajagunigbala admitted to having a sexual relationship with the late herbalist, stating that it was due to her husband’s lack of care and financial support.

She claimed that she had been solely responsible for the feeding and school fees of their children and had incurred debts that the herbalist helped her to pay off.

The court directed Pastor Ajagunigbala to assume complete responsibility for the well-being and schooling of their two youngest children who are still minors.

Mr. Joseph Oyedele, in declaring the judgment, stated that there was no legal customary marriage between the couple and that they were free to go their separate ways.

Having gone through all the oral evidence presented before this Court, it was discovered that there was no legal customary marriage between parties herein and there is no marriage available between parties to dissolve.

The Court hereby order that the parties are now free to go on their own without disturbing the peace of each other.

On the issue of the custody of the children, the Court can only order on the last two children of the marriage because they are yet to reach the age of majority. The first two children are free to decide under whose care they can live between the two parties because they are no longer minors.”

However, the Court order that the last two children of the association (Olarewaju and Victoria Ajagunigbala) are to be with the petitioner and the petitioner is to be responsible for their welfare and education,”

the court ordered.
