Passengers Burnt Beyond Recognition Along Lagos-Ibadan Highway
Passengers have been reportedly burnt beyond recognition in an accident that occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan highway on Thursday.
Top Naija reports that the fatal crash had occurred at 9:21 am.
According to The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, a total of 27 persons were involved in the crash, 25 of whom were male adults.
The FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, said 17 male adults and one female adult sustained injuries while “a total of seven persons were burnt beyond recognition.”
According to her, a Toyota Sienna, marked BWR762PV, and a Mazda bus, with registration number BDN18 LG, had a head-on collision and went up in flames.
Okpe blamed the driver of the Sienna bus for “excessive speed and route violation.”
According to her, the Sienna bus driver had driven against traffic, thereby colliding with the Mazda bus. “Unfortunately, there was a fire outbreak,” she stated.
Some of the injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital in Ogere, while others were taken to Idera Hospital in Sagamu, she further disclosed.
The remains of the dead victims were deposited at the FOS morgue in Ipara.
