Paris Olympics: “We deserve more” — Randy Waldrum begs NFF
Nigeria’s Super Falcons face a battle to the death in the Paris Olympics following their qualification for Olympic Games coming up in Paris, and the Women’s national team coach Randy Waldrum is down on his knees pleading for help from the NFF.
The Super Falcons head coach emphasized the need for his team to undergo rigorous training in Europe to adequately prepare for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The Nigerian women’s national football team, nine-time African champions, secured their spot in the prestigious tournament after clinching a 1-0 aggregate victory over their longstanding rivals, Banyana Banyana of South Africa.
Drawn into Group C, the Super Falcons are set to face formidable opponents in the form of world champions Spain, Japan, and Brazil at the Paris Olympics.
Expressing the importance of thorough preparation, Waldrum stressed the necessity for the Super Falcons to be well-equipped to compete against the strong teams in their group.
“We need to prepare properly,” Waldrum asserted following the game against Banyana Banyana in Pretoria.
“Training in Europe, proper facilities, and transportation are essential to ensure that we are adequately primed for the challenge ahead.”
Acknowledging the formidable competition awaiting them at the Paris Olympics, Waldrum likened their group to the “Group of Death,” highlighting the level of competitiveness expected akin to that of the World Cup.
“Every team at the Olympics is top, like the World Cup, we’re in the ‘Group of Death’.”
