Pandora Papers: I’m yet to see EFCC’s letter of invite- Peter Obi

Former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has amidst corruption controversy, said he intends to honor the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) invitation when he receives it.

According to the Pandora Papers, a comprehensive investigative work by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists(ICIJ) which exposes the offshore havens of influential people all over the world, PREMIUM TIMES published that Peter Obi operated a foreign account and did not declare it in his asset declaration form provided by the Code of Conduct Bureau.

It’s being circulated that the anti-graft agency, EFCC had invited the former governor over the Pandora Papers matter but Obi insists he is yet to receive a letter of invitation.

The former governor, who also denied making any statement on his invitation over the Pandora papers, said he had not seen any invite from the anti-graft commission in a statement signed by his spokesman, Valentine Obienyem on Monday titled, ‘I have not made any statement on EFCC’s invitation – Obi.

However, Obi, who was the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 election, said it was possible that the EFCC had invited him but the letter was delivered to an old office address.

The statement read in part, “From what is circulating, the letter appears to have been sent to an office he is no longer part of and is yet to reach him. Obi, being a law abiding Nigerian, will honour all legitimate invitations from government agencies at all times.”
