In Oyo State, occupants and owners of illegally erected structures along roadsides have been given a seven-day ultimatum by the government to vacate or face consequences.
Abdulmojeed Mogbojuola, the state Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, issued an ultimatum during his visit to Ojoo community in the Akinyele Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.
Mogbojubola stated that their actions have been a nuisance to public health, leading to unnecessary traffic congestion and obstruction of pedestrians and vehicles, in violation of the Environmental Sanitation Regulation of 2013.
In his words;
“Illegal operations should be halted, especially, on the road sides and drainages occupied by the individuals. And you must vacant this place in seven days.”.
He, therefore, advised that business activities should be relocated to more suitable places meant for them in the neighborhood markets.
This, he said, would curb road accidents and loss of lives and property.
