Owner killed as 2-storey building collapses in Lagos

At least one person has died as a building under construction collapsed in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

Lagos State chapter of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed that the two-storey building collapsed at about 2:30pm on Tuesday.

According to the NEMA coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, the owner, Pastor Daniel Obasi was trapped inside the uncompleted building before the unfortunate incident.

The building is sited at 77, Tapa Road, Oke Ojo Isawo along Ikorodu in Lagos.

Farinloye said the Police have recovered the body and it has been deposited in the the morgue of the General Hospital, Ikorodu.

This is happening barely two weeks after a 5-year-old boy died in a partial collapse of a distressed three-storey building in Adeniji Adele axis of Lagos State.

It was learnt that the building located at 19, Church Street of Adeniji Adele Street in Lagos Island suddenly, caved in partially when some of the occupants including the deceased child, were already asleep.

It was gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 8.
