Over N290m released by Sanwo-Olu for bursary and scholarships
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the release of over 290 million naira for qualified bursary and local scholarship beneficiaries in tertiary institutions across the country.
In a statement signed by the Executive Secretary, Lagos State Scholarship Board, Mr. Omotayo Fakolujo, stated that the prompt release of the award emphasizes how committed the State Government is to sustaining the scholarship and bursary programme despite Nigeria’s economic situation.

Fakolujo said that “Mr. Governor is committed to ensuring that Lagosians are empowered, through education, to contribute productively to the local and global economies. The release of the funds demonstrates the priority the administration of the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu accords the education sector”.
Fakolujo remarked that the current administration understands the crucial role education plays in defining the socio-political development of the present time and the growth and advancement of the state.
Giving a breakdown of the payment, the Executive Secretary said the government released the sum of N137,825,091.46 for 599 local scholarship beneficiaries, while the sum of N157, 093, 205.44 will be expended on 4,341 bursary beneficiaries.
The Executive Secretary, however, advised subsequent beneficiaries of the awards to be patient as necessary arrangements are being put in place to ensure hitch-free disbursement, adding that the beneficiaries will soon be invited to present themselves for documentation.
