Over the weekend, torrential rain and high winds wrecked havoc in Ilara-Mokin, Ifedore Local Government Area, Ondo State, destroying over 100 structures.

Oladeji Street, Hospital Road, Odo Gbeyin, Oja Jare Flats across Elizade Road, and Apostolic Primary School were among the areas affected by the catastrophe.

Oba Abiodun Adefehinti, Alara of Ilara Mokin, described the situation as alarming and asked the state government to act promptly.

According to the monarch, some indigenous people who had lost their homes had been camping in open locations.

“More than 100 houses are affected and the number of people who slept outside during these past nights would be close to 200 or more than that.

“Some of them have taken time to repair those that were not terribly damaged.

“We know the government has a lot of things to do, however, we are appealing to them that we need their assistance.”

Razaq Obe, the Commissioner for Energy, Mines, and Natural Resources, claimed the rainstorm’s devastation was unparalleled.
