“Our biggest threat not Arsenal or Man City” — Kenny Dalglish
Former Liverpool manager and player, Kenny Dalglish has rubbished suggestions that top 4 rivals, Arsenal and Manchester City are the Reds’ biggest threats in the premier league title race.
According to the Scottish legend, the real threat that faces Liverpool’s season even above the likes of Arsenal and Man City are the current injury issues plaguing the 19-times Premier League champions.
Liverpool currently has not less than 9 first team players out on the sidelines, with ruthless goal scorer, Diogo Jota, midfielder maestro, Dominik Szoboszlai, chief creator, Trent Alexander-Arnold and goalie, Alisson Becker all absent from the team’s lineups.
Situations for the likes of Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah remains complicated as both stars missed out on the crucial Carabao Cup final clash versus Chelsea and the FA Cup 5th round tie versus Southampton in mid-week.
Speaking on the Reds’ season on the No Tippy Tappy Podcast following the Carabao Cup triumph, Kenny Dalglish asserts;
“They [Arsenal] are not the biggest [threat to Liverpool’s title race] because Manchester City are in there as well. The biggest threat to Liverpool could be injuries.”
The Liverpool legend goes on to add that there stands the silver lining of both Arsenal and Manchester City needing to face off against each other which could result to bonus points for the Reds and Jurgen Klopp’s team.
“For me, Arsenal have got to go to Manchester and play Man City which is a big game.” Kenny Dalglish insists.
