Osun State Punishes 27 NYSC Members

27 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun State have had their service years extended due to a variety of violations from the Corp members.

The NYSC reported that during the 2021 Batch C Stream II service year, 20 corps members fled.

This was announced by Olayinka Abdulwahab, the Osun NYSC State Coordinator, during the low-key passing out ceremony for the 2021 Batch C Stream II on Thursday.

According to Abdulwahab, a total of 2870 corps members from the 2021 Batch C Stream II successfully completed their one-year required service to the country during the passing out ceremony held at local government secretariats around the State.

The NYSC State Coordinator praised the corps members for completing the program successfully and serving as good representatives in their various primary assignments throughout the service year.

“I hail you for successfully scaling through the four cardinal programmes of the scheme and for being good ambassadors of the scheme at your various places of primary assignment during the service year.

“I commended the doggedness and tenacity of the Corps Members and thank you for impacting the lives of the people of the State positively.

“A total of 20 Corps members absconded, while 27 had their service year extended for various infractions.”

According to her, news reports of their conduct from the various quarters and Corps employers in the State are pointers to the fact that the scheme truly is living up to its name and objectives.

While urging the outgone Corps Members to continue to be worthy ambassadors of the scheme, their families and the nation, Nigeria, Abdulwahab charged them to keep carrying the torch of unity and selfless service wherever they went.
