Victor Osimhen Name Drops Didier Drogba As His GOAT

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has been nominated for the UEFA Champions League Player of the Week award following his impressive performance for Napoli against Eintracht Frankfurt. The 24-year-old scored two goals in Napoli’s 3-0 victory over the Bundesliga outfit at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Wednesday night.

Osimhen has been in fine form for Napoli this season, scoring four goals in five appearances in the Champions League. He was also named Man of the Match after the game.

However, Osimhen faces stiff competition from Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who scored an incredible five goals in his team’s 7-0 win over RB Leipzig on Tuesday night. Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and AC Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu are also in the running for the award.

The UEFA Champions League Player of the Week award recognizes outstanding performances in the competition and is voted for by fans on UEFA’s official website. The winner will be announced later this week.

Osimhen joined Napoli in the summer of 2020 from French club Lille for a reported fee of €70 million. He has since established himself as a key player for the Italian club, scoring 11 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions last season.

If Osimhen wins the award, it will be a major boost for the Nigerian forward and a recognition of his impressive performances in the Champions League this season.
