Oscars Dress: Tems Stole The Show, – Yul Edochie

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has hailed Nigerian artiste Tems for her white outfit that obscured other Oscars attendees’ views.

The singer wore a dramatic dress with a shoulder piece that wrapped around her head, making audience members sitting behind her unable to see the stage at the Dolby Theatre, Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Speaking on the backlash Tems received online for the dress, Edochie tweeted on Monday, “Before you criticise #temsbaby for her Oscar dress, attend the Oscars first. Just like Will Smith’s slap did last year, Tems stole the show this year.

“Congratulations girl. We’re proud of you. Nigeria is proud of you.”

Tems was nominated for her exceptional contribution as a songwriter on ‘Lift Me Up,’ one of the songs featured in Marvel’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.

Tems was up against some tough competition, including ‘Applause’ from ‘Tell It Like a Woman’ (by Diane Warren), ‘Hold My Hand’ from ‘Top Gun Maverick’ (by Lady Gaga and BloodPop), and ‘This Is a Life’ from ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ (by Ryan Lott, David Byrne, and Mitski).

Unfortunately, Tems lost the Oscar for Best Original Song to ‘Naatu Naatu’ from ‘RRR’, composed by MM Keeravani, with lyrics by Chandrabose and vocals by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava.
