Orji Uzor Kalu, Opeyemi Bamidele elected senators

Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Opeyemi Bamidele of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the election in in Ekiti central senatorial district.

With 94,279 votes, Bamidele defeated Obafemi Adewale of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled a total of 48,707 votes.

Bamidele was a member of the house of reps.

In Abia, Orji Uzor Kalu, former governor of Abia state and APC candidate for Abia north zone was declared winner in Saturday’s senatorial election.

He polled 31,203 votes to defeat Mao Ohuabunwa of the PDP and incumbent senator who scored 20,801 votes.

The result was declared by Charles Amumudu, the returning officer.
