Oppenheimer goes Nuclear at 96th Oscars
The 96th Academy Awards took place on Sunday night, March 10, featuring comedian Jimmy Kimmel as host for the fourth time. The event, renowned for recognizing excellence in film, saw the historical drama “Oppenheimer” emerge as the night’s big winner, clinching seven Oscars, including the coveted Best Picture award.
Directed by Christopher Nolan, “Oppenheimer” entered the ceremony with an impressive 13 nominations and solidified its place as a frontrunner by sweeping multiple categories. Alongside the Best Picture accolade, Nolan also secured the award for Best Director, further cementing the film’s critical acclaim and widespread recognition.
Among other notable winners was “Poor Things,” which garnered four Oscars, including Best Actress for Emma Stone. Stone’s portrayal in the film stood out amidst tough competition, edging out contenders such as Lily Gladstone and Carey Mulligan.
In a surprising turn of events, singer-songwriter Billie Eilish secured her second Oscar for her song featured in the film “Barbie,” adding another milestone to her burgeoning career. Additionally, Irish actor Cillian Murphy made history as the first-ever Irish-born winner of the Best Actor award, further diversifying the pool of talent celebrated at the prestigious awards ceremony.
