Only Here For Retirement—Fans blast Sergio Ramos

Fans of rival clubs may have had a thing against former Real Madrid star, Sergio Ramos, but after his defensive mishaps against Lens on Sunday night, his own club fans may start believing what rival fans think of the player.

As a result of his performance against Lens in Ligue 1, fans are referring to Sergio Ramos as “finished.”

Despite being in first place, Paris Saint-Germain was defeated 3-2 by Lens on Sunday night.

Ramos has started 20 games this season despite having a subpar first campaign. He is an important component of Christophe Galtier’s 3-4-3 system, which has been successful so far.

After watching the part the Spaniard played in Lens gaining the lead, the crowd was eager to criticize the player’s poor defensive performance.

Przemyslaw Frankowski gave Lens the lead in the fifth minute, but Hugo Ekitike gave PSG the lead back in the eighth minute.

Before the halfway point, PSG mishandled an attack and were swiftly cut open by a quick counter attack that exposed the French champion’s defensive line.

It was definitely some poor defensive play from two top players when Ramos sprinted in on the halfway line to try and win the ball as a pass was fired into Lois Openda. However, because of his overzealousness, the striker went straight through and completely sold Marquinhos before scoring the second goal.

As Openda scored the second goal, Ramos was criticized by the crowd for his lackluster efforts.

One supporter merely said, “State of Ramos,” and another asserted, “Bayern are going to cook these people.”

Another person referred to him as “more finished than Ronaldo.”

Just after the break, Alexis Claude-Maurice added a third goal to hand PSG their first league loss of the season.

Following the Round of 64 of the French Cup, the French giants will play six straight Ligue 1 games before taking on Bayern Munich in the Round of 16 of the Champions League.

It would be intriguing to see if the fabled trio of Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe can all regain the form they displayed prior to the competition in Qatar now that Lionel Messi is returned as a World Cup champion; if they can, they will undoubtedly be contenders.

Ramos and company, though, will need to defend considerably better than they have thus far tonight if they are to have any chance of eventually winning the Champions League title.
