Ondo APC primaries: Aiyedatiwa thanks Tinubu for peaceful polls
In a gracious acknowledgement, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State expressed his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu on Monday for fostering an enabling environment conducive to the peaceful conduct of Ondo APC primaries in the state.
Aiyedatiwa conveyed his gratitude during his acceptance speech following his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the November 16 governorship election.
Usman Ododo, serving as both the Ondo APC primaries Election Committee Chairman and Governor of Kogi, officially declared Aiyedatiwa as the winner of Saturday’s primary.
According to Ododo, Aiyedatiwa secured 48,569 votes, decisively defeating his closest rival, Mayowa Akinfolarin, who garnered 15,343 out of 95,178 valid votes.
Aiyedatiwa extended his appreciation to the national and state working committees of the party for their efforts in ensuring that the “best candidate emerged” as the party’s standard-bearer.
Furthermore, he commended the other contestants for their sportsmanship and urged them to join forces with him to ensure the party’s victory in the forthcoming November election.
“Democracy sometimes comes with discordant tunes,” remarked Aiyedatiwa, emphasizing the need to set aside grievances and unite for the common goal of retaining power.
