Obi@63 continues 20-year practice, redirects birthday gifts to charity

Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has requested that all gifts intended for his 63rd birthday (Obi@63) be donated to care homes, schools, and hospitals, emphasizing the significant impact such generosity can have on these institutions.

Obi@63 will be celebrated on Friday, July 19th.

He described this occasion as a time for personal reflection and thanksgiving to Almighty God for granting him life, good health, and the opportunity to contribute to the betterment of humanity.

“I have therefore personally redirected the resources I would have used for celebrations towards supporting critical areas such as health, education, and poverty alleviation,” Obi announced.

He strongly believes that these sacrifices will attract divine blessings and fulfill his well-wishers’ heartfelt wishes and prayers.

“Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers,” he concluded, highlighting his commitment to community service and encouraging others to join him in positively impacting society through charitable contributions.

Peter Obi has consistently demonstrated a commitment to using personal milestones to pass a strong message about the importance of charity and the divinity of our being. Instead of using such opportunities for self-promotion, he turns them into a platform to advocate for the poor and marginalized.

In the past, Obi has redirected birthday gifts and personal resources to charitable causes.

For instance, on his 60th birthday, he donated to the disabled, tramps, and schools, emphasizing his belief that helping others is more fulfilling than lavish celebrations.. He also equipped the computer laboratory of RECDOT Comprehensive Secondary School, Ozubulu.

On his 62nd birthday, Obi maintained his long-standing decision to forego personal celebrations in light of Nigeria’s challenging circumstances. He requested that his friends, Labour Party members, and OBIdient supporters extend their generosity to those in need, particularly by visiting hospitals, orphanages, homes for the aged, and people with disabilities.

He also encouraged visits to schools in remote areas and various IDP camps across the country, highlighting his intent to raise money for these critical areas.

“I have already said that the sacrifices for a better Nigeria must now start from us, the leaders and the well-placed. The state of our nation must give us cause to pause and ponder. There is far too much insecurity, violence, and bloodshed. This month alone, over 200 lives have been lost to sustained violent attacks in Mangu LGA in Plateau State. Similarly, in Benue State, over 100 lives have been lost in recent times, the latest being 27 persons killed in Adogo Ugbaam, Akpuuna, and Diom communities in Ukum LGA,” Obi remarked.

Obi’s consistent charity work reflects his deep-seated belief in improving society by building schools, upgrading hospitals, and alleviating poverty. His approach to politics is driven by a genuine desire to uplift the less privileged, which has endeared him to many Nigerians.
