NYSC confirms CDS, biometric suspension continues
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has confirmed that its directive on the suspension of biometric clearance and Community Development Services (CDS) remains in effect.
This clarification comes amid the circulation of a fake circular on social media, falsely attributed to the NYSC Director General.
The NYSC described the circulating document as a fabrication, calling out the “unpatriotic elements” responsible for spreading the false information. The agency expressed serious concern over the ongoing spread of misleading news and warned that it is prepared to take action against those involved.
In an official statement signed by Eddy Megwa, Director of Information and Public Relations, the NYSC emphasized that no genuine circular from the agency would be released through social media channels.
statement reiterated that the suspension of biometric clearance and CDS activities is still in place, and corps members will be informed through official channels when the suspension is lifted.
The NYSC also reassured corps members that both the scheme and the Federal Government remain fully committed to their welfare. The statement highlighted that the NYSC has always ensured that corps members are included in wage reviews and that this will continue with the anticipated minimum wage increase.
The NYSC further warned corps members against participating in any form of protest, stating that such actions would violate the oath they took and the provisions of the NYSC by-laws. The agency stressed that it would not hesitate to enforce the NYSC Act and by-laws on any corps member who breaks the law.
Finally, the NYSC assured corps members that any official pronouncements regarding their stipends will be made and implemented without delay once approved by the appropriate authorities.
