NYSC Corps members in Katsina trained on financial literacy

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Batch ‘B’ stream II corps members deployed to Katsina State participated in a one-day financial literacy sensitization programme on Sunday.

The event at the NYSC orientation camp along Mani Road served as a prelude to the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, which began on September 2.

Alhaji Sa’idu Ibrahim, the NYSC Coordinator for Katsina State, revealed that the training was a collaborative effort between the NYSC, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), and Kudimata Nigeria Limited, a financial education organization.

He explained that the initiative aligns with the SAED programme’s goals of equipping corps members with essential life skills to foster self-reliance.

Ibrahim highlighted the importance of financial literacy for succeeding in today’s competitive labour market, describing it as a critical foundation for self-actualization. He urged corps members to use the knowledge gained to avoid dependence on white-collar jobs.

The NYSC Coordinator reiterated the scheme’s commitment to empowering corps members to become future employers. The training featured a financial expert who provided insights on financial identity, planning, money management, and budgeting.

According to report, the 2024 Batch ‘B’ stream II corps members were sworn in on Friday, August 29, for their three-week orientation course.
