ABOUT
Nwakaego Ihenacho Ogbaro, known professionally as Ego, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. She was born in Imo state, Nigeria.
EDUCATION
Ego attended Central Primary School and the prestigious Ikeja High School, GRA in Lagos. Ego was a top student at Ikeja High School. She graduated from high school in 1991.
CAREER
Ego’s career grew from being the sonorous and calming  voice that accompanied Lagbaja’s husky one for 12 years, releasing hits like ‘Konko Below’, ‘Nothing for you’ and ‘Never far away’ and going on world tours to becoming a solo artist in 2007.

She formed a band, Indigo band and has since then collaborated with notable musicians like Tosin Martins, Sunny Nneji, Djinee, Asa, Cobhams and Yinka Davies to name a few.

In 2011, she released a single titled ‘I believe’ with its video which was shot by Kemi Adetiba which was to address the violence that erupted in Jos city in 2010

In 2008, she became a Glo Ambassador headlining events and promos like the Glo ‘Borrow Me Data’ and in 2013 appeared on Ndani’s TV session.
FAMILY
She is married to Niyi Ogbaro who she sometimes call her manager.
PERSONAL LIFE
Growing up, Ego took her musical talents for granted only coming fully into it after joining ‘Colours band’ which is now known as Lagbaja’s band.
ACHIEVEMENT
Ego has received numerous awards from different organisations amongst which are:

— Kim Lawani’s Most Promising Female Act of the year at the Fame Music Awards in 1998

— The Best Female Vocalist of the year at the Hip-Hop World Awards in 2006.
