The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that train services across the country will be temporarily suspended from Saturday, February 25th to Monday, February 27th, 2023.

According to the NRC, this suspension is due to the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly Elections scheduled for Saturday.

The spokesperson of the NRC, Mr. Mahmood Yakub, stated that the suspension of train services is necessary to enable Nigerians to exercise their civic responsibilities during the election.

The affected train services include the Abuja – Kaduna Train Service (AKTS), Warri – Itakpe Train Service (WITS), Lagos – Ibadan Train Service (LITS), and Iddo Lagos – Ijoko interstate Mass Transit passengers’ train services.

However, the NRC has assured the public that normal train services will resume on Tuesday, February 28th, 2023.

The NRC has advised travelers to plan accordingly and use alternative transportation means during this period. It’s essential to ensure the smooth conduct of the election, and the NRC has taken a proactive step to minimize disruptions for travelers.
