Nottingham Forest vs. Manchester United: Same United again
Nottingham Forest versus Manchester United was another typical United performance to result in a 2-1 defeat for the Red Devils at the City Ground.
A frustrating evening it was as Erik ten Hag’s team suffered their 9th premier league defeat of the premier league season.
It never seems to get better for the 20 times premier league Champions as just days from securing a vital win against Aston Villa in mid-week, the Red Devils crumbled at the first sight of blood against Forest.
It was a forgettable first half for Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, with both teams recording almost zero shots on goal until the second half with Forest registering the first shot on goal via Nicolás Domínguez.
Nicolás Domínguez’s shot on goal was enough to break the 0-0 deadlock in the 64th minute to put Nottingham Forest in the lead and Manchester United under pressure.
The Red Devils however had to wait for their second shot on goal to yield anything fruitful, with forward man, Marcus Rashford putting his team back into the game at level on goals in the 76th minute.
But Forest did not rest their laurels as they secured the vital win thanks to a Morgan Gibbs-White strike in the 82nd minute to deny the Red Devils of any point heading back to Manchester.
Though late on the Manchester United led on an onslaught on Nottingham to steal back a point, the Forest goalie, Matt Turner churned out some impressive saves to ensure maximum points remained at the City Ground and away from their opponent.
The Red Devils once again found themselves making the same mistakes just after turning out a positive days before to continue the narrative of consistent inconsistency.
