Nothing but a bunch of pretenders -- Noel Gallagher rubbishes Arsenal

Manchester City being in a title race versus Arsenal would be a much talked about topic for years that would be looked at in disdain owing to Arsenal’s performance on Wednesday against City, and for City fan Noel Gallagher, the Gunners should not be put in same conversation with Liverpool.

Arsenal are no contenders but pretenders, he alleges.

Noel Gallagher, the former frontman of the British band Oasis, has criticized Arsenal’s performance following their heavy defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday. Arsenal needed a win to secure their position at the top of the Premier League table, but City ran rampant, winning 4-1 with goals from Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones, and Erling Haaland.

Speaking to talkSPORT after the game, Gallagher expressed his disappointment with Arsenal’s performance, calling them “pretenders.” He expected more from the Gunners, who he said did nothing in the first 20 minutes of the game. In contrast, Gallagher praised his beloved Manchester City for their dominant display.

“We’ve seen the governors tonight and a load of kids who were pretenders, and that’s it,” Gallagher said of Arsenal’s performance. He went on to compare Arsenal’s attitude to that of Liverpool, stating that the latter plays like champions and with a sense of urgency.

Gallagher also pointed out that Arsenal’s quick start, which they had exhibited in previous games against West Ham and Liverpool, was absent in this game. He expected Arsenal to “fly out of the blocks,” but instead, De Bruyne put City ahead in just seven minutes. Gallagher expressed his disappointment at Arsenal’s attitude, saying they “were letting them [City] kick it around the six-yard box.”

The defeat was a significant blow to Arsenal’s title hopes, as they lost their place at the top of the Premier League table to Manchester City. Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, had been pushing City to their limits this season, but his team’s performance on Wednesday left much to be desired. Gallagher believes that Arsenal’s chance at the title is gone, and they have blown their opportunity.
