Top American R&B singer R Kelly has given a rare interview in which he denies all the sexual abuse allegations made against him. The 52-year-old was arrested and bailed last week for 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse and could spend the rest of his life in jail if found guilty. In his interview with American television personality, Gayle King, he denies all the allegations and described them as all lies.

Although Kelly was acquitted of child pornography in 2008, he faces a set of new charges after the docuseries Surviving R Kelly featured dozens of women who accused him of similar cases of him sexually and physically abusing them.

“I beat my case,” he said to Gayle King. “When you beat something, we can’t double jeopardy me like that, it’s not fair, it’s not fair to nobody. When you beat your case, you beat your case.”

He also says he’s couldn’t have held women against their will. “How stupid would it be for R Kelly, with all I’ve been through in my way, way past, to hold somebody, let alone, four, five, fifty, sixty you said, how stupid would I be to do that? Use your common sense, ”  he said before breaking into tears.

The full interview- one hour thirty minutes long- is set to air in a few hours from now.
