"Not enough for my personality" — Manchester United star spills

Manchester United no 2. Altay Bayindir is speaking up about his situation at the club and after Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup tie versus Barnsley, the goalie is ready to pile more pressure on the manager for more game time.

The 26-year-old Turkish shot-stopper was signed from Fenerbahce with high expectations, but he has struggled to break into Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup, making just one appearance last season. This limited role has left Bayindir itching for more opportunities, as he revealed in a candid interview following his recent appearance in United’s 7-0 Carabao Cup victory over Barnsley.

Bayindir’s second-ever game for the Red Devils came in that third-round win, and while the match was a comfortable one for United, it’s clear that the goalkeeper wants more than just cameo appearances in less prestigious competitions.

Speaking to United Review, the official club program, Bayindir made his feelings known: “I didn’t get a long time of chances last year. I was just playing one game. And it is not enough for my personality, but in life, anything can happen.”

The Turkish international’s words suggest an underlying impatience, hinting that he’s eager to show his worth in bigger fixtures. Despite maintaining a professional tone, his message to manager Erik ten Hag is clear: he’s ready for more responsibility.

“You just need to be focused. You need to work hard, and everything can change in this life,” he continued, emphasizing his determination to make a breakthrough in what is already a highly competitive squad.

Bayindir’s situation is all the more complicated given the Manchester United goalkeeping hierarchy. With André Onana solidifying his position as United’s first-choice keeper, Bayindir’s chances remain limited, but the Turkish keeper’s latest remarks may prompt fans to wonder how long he’s willing to wait for more meaningful game time.
