No talks were held with Man United over Greenwood — Adidas
There is no intention to bring Mason Greenwood into the Adidas fold or take decisions regarding his future, the Sports apparel company comes into the public space to clear rumors on the Manchester United star.
The German athletic apparel corporation has denied ever holding talks with Manchester United regarding Mason Greenwood’s situation.
The football wear makers explained that they are not in the position to enter discussions or make decisions about players or staff of a club, insisting it is one of the reasons the company has not made any move towards handling the Mason Greenwood situation.
As it is widely known, Mason Greenwood was charged with rape and other related offences in January 2022 and since then, has not featured for the Premier League side.
Despite the charges being dropped in February 2023, he has remained under suspension by Manchester United pending the conclusion of the club’s investigations.
According to reports by The Sun on Friday, United were speculated to have held talks with Adidas to discuss the possibility of bringing Mason Greenwood back.
The newspaper even alleged that talks between the two parties were said to have come out ‘positive’ .
However, Adidas, who still remains United’s shirt sponsor, have openly denied any such talks taking place.
As quoted by Metro, an Adidas spokesperson said;
“After inaccurate and speculative reporting within the media, it’s important for us to clarify that Adidas has had no discussions with Manchester United regarding any member of their playing squad.
“We play no role in any decisions made regarding any member of the team or staff at the club.”
