The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has guaranteed Nigerians that there is no plan to reinstate the dissolved Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) into the Nigeria Police Force.

This was disclosed on Thurday by Mr Frank Mba, the Public Relations Officer of the Force in order to provide clarification on the news making waves offline and online that the IGP had ordered the disbanded SARS to be reinstated.

“The Force wishes to emphasise that there is no plan whatsoever to bring back the disbanded SARS. SARS is gone for good and will not resurrect under any guise whatsoever,” he said.

Mr. Frank Mba said that the false report was intended to misinform the public and urged Nigerians to disregard it.

He said the operational structure of the squad had been reorganized by the Nigerian Police in order to fill the space created by its disbandment, as efforts to deepen reforms is focused on by the Force leadership.

Mba said the aim was to give Nigerians, a more effective, efficient, technology driven Police Force that would be humane and rule of law compliant.
