No Haaland, No Problem as Man City Return To Rightful Position

It is probably reaching the point where the Premier League would have to renounce its title as most competitive league in Europe if EPL clubs cannot take down Man City even without its lethal striker; the fearsome Erling Haaland.

The early kick off game against Leicester City at the King’s Power Stadium on Saturday, saw the Norwegian sensation dropped from the Man City lineup and match day squad after picking an injury.

The Norwegian, Erling Haaland has proven himself as the main star in the Cityzens’ attack having already 17 goals in 11 Premier League matches this season.

But with Haaland already picking up an injury in City’s 0-0 draw against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday evening in the Champions League fixture, the former Dortmund player was left out of the game.

Even at that, the Etihad side scooped past a newly resurgent Leicester City at the Foxes ground to steal all 3 points thanks to midfield maestro, Kevin De Bruyne doing the work with a goal in the 49th minute.

With Julian Alvarez starting up front in place of Haaland, Man City proved themselves as lethal as they could be registering more shots on target than Leicester City, and keeping a clean sheet thanks to saves by Ederson Morales.

At the break in Dortmund, Guardiola had substituted Haaland, who had been suffering from a foot problem and a minor fever.

On Friday afternoon, the City boss said:

“He feels better but we will train this afternoon and we will assess in a few hours.

“We will see how he feels in his foot and after we will decide. I will know in two hours if he’s able to play or not.”

Jack Grealish was also recalled to the starting XI for the game, while Bernardo Silva played on the right-hand side of the front three.

With Premier League clubs aside Liverpool failing to take down Manchester City this season, it appears Arsenal’s time at the top of the Premier League table is over this season starting from this weekend should they fail to win Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

From title contenders to title placeholders it would seem for the Gunners. How the Premier League has fallen.
