NLC teams up with Workers Union to strong-arm FG
The National Labour Congress (NLC) have gone for the punch in the battle with the Nigerian Federal Government over the implementation of the minimum wage.
When Nigeria hits, it hits harder on the citizens resident in the country, and who better to look out for the working population than the Labour Unions.
However, the current strike action has affected the electricity supply in the country as the National Labour Congress (NLC) has teamed up with the electricity workers union to shutdown power supply.
According to reports, the National Labour Congress and the electricity workers union in a deliberate move, have disconnected the country’s national grid.
This is in protest to the rising inflation in the country and the government’s reluctance to accept the proposed minimum wage the NLC is opting for.
In addition, all airports have been closed, with the country undergoing a complete shutdown in services and infrastructure.
The National Labour Congress (NLC) are asking for the implementation of a minimum of 400,000 naira wage rate for workers, which the Federal Government wrestles with.
Hard times beckon for low income earners in the country as the economy and the government continue to lower their standard and in turn the living of the citizens.
