Slams Tinubu Government Over ‘Unending’ Fuel Price

In a stinging rebuke of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called for an immediate reversal of the latest fuel price hike, criticizing the government’s handling of fuel pricing under the guise of market forces.

NLC President Joe Ajaero didn’t hold back, accusing the government of continuously burdening Nigerians with unjustified fuel price increases.

“The only consistent policy of this government seems to be raising fuel prices, with zero regard for the people’s suffering or meaningful economic recovery plans,” Ajaero said.

The NLC stressed that the latest hike by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has plunged more Nigerians into poverty, destroyed production, and led to massive job losses. The union questioned the role of NNPCL, branding its influence as a dangerous monopoly, and warned that this latest increase will only deepen the financial crisis.

The NLC has thrown down the gauntlet, urging the government to return to the drawing board with a clear, long-term economic plan instead of relying on short-term, erratic measures that further alienate citizens. Will the Tinubu administration listen, or will Nigerians face more fuel price hikes ahead?
