NiMet weather forecast: Rain, thunder expected nationwide

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting rain and thunderstorms across Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday.

The outlook, released over the weekend in Abuja, details varying weather conditions throughout the country.

On Monday morning, NiMet weather forecast isolated thunderstorms in parts of Katsina, Sokoto, Kano, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba states. By later in the day, thunderstorms are expected in Kaduna, Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Yobe, Taraba, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi states.

Intermittent rains are predicted for Benue, Niger, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kogi, and Kwara states in the morning. In the afternoon and evening, localized rains are expected in the FCT, Plateau, Niger, and Nasarawa states. Additionally, isolated rains are forecasted for Ebonyi, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Cross River states.

On Tuesday, localized rains are anticipated in Ebonyi, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Ondo, Anambra, Osun, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Ogun, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Edo states later in the day. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Taraba states in the morning, with additional thunderstorms in Bauchi, Kaduna, Gombe, Yobe, Zamfara, Borno, Sokoto, Taraba, Kebbi, Kano, and Jigawa states later.

Intermittent rains are forecasted for Benue, Kogi, the FCT, and Nasarawa states in the morning, with isolated rains expected in the FCT, Plateau, Benue, Kwara, and Nasarawa states later in the day. The southern region will experience intermittent rains throughout the day.

For Wednesday, thunderstorms are expected in Kebbi, Bauchi, Sokoto, Borno, and Katsina states during the morning. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are forecasted for Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Adamawa, Kano, and Taraba states. Morning rains are anticipated in the FCT and Niger states, with isolated thunderstorms and rains expected in Plateau, Nasarawa, and Niger states later.

The southern region is predicted to have cloudy skies in the morning, with moderate rains possible in Abia, Ebonyi, Ondo, Imo, Edo, Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Cross River states later in the day. NiMet advises residents to be cautious of potential flooding and strong winds accompanying thunderstorms.
