NiMet predicts three days of sunshine, thunderstorms across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast three days of sunshine and thunderstorms across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

According to NiMet’s weather  forecast released over the weekend in Abuja, here’s what to expect:

Monday:
Northern Region: Sunny skies with patches of clouds. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected in parts of Taraba State.

North Central Region: Sunny skies with cloud patches. Thunderstorms are likely in parts of Benue State during the afternoon and evening.

Southern States: Cloudy skies in the morning with thunderstorms in parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom States. In the afternoon and evening, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated in Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Imo, Abia, Edo, Ebonyi, Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Bayelsa States.

Tuesday:
Northern Region: Sunny skies with patches of clouds. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in parts of Adamawa, Kaduna, and Taraba States later in the day.

North Central Region: Predominantly cloudy with chances of isolated thunderstorms in parts of Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Plateau, and Nasarawa States during the afternoon and evening.

Southern States: Cloudy in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms in parts of Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa, Delta, and Lagos States later in the day.

Wednesday:
Northern Region: Sunny with patches of clouds. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in parts of Taraba, Adamawa, and Kaduna States during the late hours.

North Central Region: Cloudy with intervals of sunshine in the morning. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Niger, Kwara, and Kogi States later in the day.

Southern States: Cloudy with isolated thunderstorms in parts of Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Cross River States in the morning. Later in the day, thunderstorms are expected in Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Ekiti, Ondo, Ogun, Edo, Ebonyi, Delta, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States.

NiMet advised the public to take adequate precautions as strong winds might precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely.

Airline operators are urged to get updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
