Yoruba Nation Condemns Sponsored Attack On Nigerian Army

It is fast becoming a trend these days, with army officers being ambushed by gunmen while en route to specific locations. Only this time, it was rather a convoy that was ambushed in Taraba State.

According to reports by Sahara Reporters, the convoy was en route to Jalingo, the Taraba State capital on Tuesday when the ambush happened.

At least, seven Nigerian soldiers as reported were killed in the ambush on the convoy, that is stated to be of the commanding officer of the 93 Army Battalion, Takum, Taraba State by gunmen identified to be terrorists.

A source who had spoken to Sahara Reporters revealed the whereabouts of the senior military officer and his orderly are left unknown hours after the attack, and so far are declared missing in action.

Although, a different source had claimed they couldn’t confirm if at all the “Brigadier General was in the convoy” or not but could confirm his official vehicle was among those that were attacked.

It is a possibility that the Brigadier was the intended target in the ambush, although nothing is stated as fact as at the moment.

These few months have seen a tragic turn for Nigerian military officers as reports have piled up on gunmen laying siege en route to attack and kill, absent the presence of a field of battle.

The attacks seem somewhat orchestrated and timed, with it all sounding more of a conspiracy than a random attack, which begs the question of ‘if military officers journeying through the country aren’t safe, who then is safe from these attacks?’
