Members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) on Thursday morning started a nationwide strike in spite of Federal Government’s last-minute efforts to prevent the action.

NARD members, however, guaranteed Nigerians that their action was not intended to harm them.

On Thursday morning, the association gave the clarification in a message posted on social media.

The message read, “Nigerians must understand that we love them and the strike is not intended to hurt them, but to challenge the Nigerian government @MBuhari @Fmohnigeria @LabourMinNG whose responsibilities amongst others is to care for her citizens and labour force to do the needful.”

The President of the association, Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, also affirmed to Top Naija that the strike had started by 8am Thursday.

The strike is occurring at a time when President Muhammadu Buhari is in London for medical check-up.
