1. President Muhammadu Buhari has reinstated the suspended Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Usman Yusuf.

Yusuf, who was suspended by the Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, in June 2017, following allegations of gross misconduct, ranging from nepotism to theft of public funds is now back.

2. Four persons were yesterday confirmed dead after a fuel-laden tanker was hit by a truck, causing heavy inferno.

The accident, occurred at Onigari Village, close to the Foursquare Gospel Church ‎camp at Ajebo, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

3. The Senate Ad-hoc Committee investigating attempted arrest of former National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayodele Oke and the former Director, Department of State Security Services (DSS), Ita Ekpenyong by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) began sitting on Tuesday in Abuja.

The investigation which held behind closed doors was shielded away from the prying eyes of journalists with a stern warning to all Senators who are members of the Committee not to devulge informations that emanated from the discussions, DAILY POST learnt.

4. Kassim Afegbua, the media adviser to former military president, Ibrahim Babangida, who was declared wanted by the police, has sued for fundamental rights enforcement.

Afegbua is also demanding N1 billion damages from the police, its spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, and two media houses.

5. President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Nasarawa State, advised victims of herdsmen attacks to avoid reprisal attacks in Benue state.

Buhari reiterated that security agencies have standing instructions to arrest and prosecute anybody found with illegal arms as his administration would not tolerate further attacks.

6. A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Jumoke Akinjide, has returned N650 million to the Federal Government.

Akinjide informed the court about this development on Tuesday, when she notified Justice Muslim Sule Hassan of a Federal High Court in Lagos of her plans to reach an out-of-court settlement with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

7. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended registration for the unified tertiary matriculation examination till Sunday 11th February, by 12 midnight.

JAMB Head of Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, made the announcement in a statement after a meeting with directors of the agency on Tuesday, in Abuja.

8. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday revealed what Nigeria needed to progress as a nation.

The former president identified good leadership, governance and development as the elements for economic progress in Nigeria and Africa.

9. President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday directed Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to lead the reconciliation process of aggrieved party members across the country.

The directive, according to the President is aimed at improving the cohesion within the ruling APC.

10. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue ‎State has urged the people of the state to adopt any lawful means to defend themselves from herdsmen attacking parts of the state.

He decried that the call became necessary because the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris who should enforce security and safety of the people was playing politics with the unending killings in the state.
