1. The home-based Super Eagles team Wednesday night qualified for the final of the ongoing African Nations Championships, CHAN taking place in Morocco after defeating Sudan with a lone goal. Gabriel Okechukwu’s only goal in the first half was all the Super Eagles needed to scale through despite a one-man disadvantage. Nigerian will now face the host, Morocco in the final of the championships.

2. Relatively, President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the Super Eagles on their victory over Sudan in the semi-final of the 2018 Championships of African Nations (CHAN) in Marrakesh, Morocco. Buhari in a congratulatory statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina described their performance as spectacular. He urged them to return with the cup.

3. Report says Ministers have been mandated by President Muhammadu Buhari to give account of their stewardship and as well explain how money disbursed to their various ministries were spent. The report claims that the Ministers have been explaining to the Federal Executive Council, FEC, since last week at the weekly cabinet meetings‎ on how the funds released so far to their respective ministries had been spent.

4. Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara has called on the national leadership of the Party not to welcome Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to its fold. Briefing newsmen, Oyedepo said the Kwara delegation met with the National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and pleaded with him not to allow Saraki to hijack the party.

5. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, John Oyegun, has said the country is running a “bastardized political structure”. Oyegun stated this at the public presentation of the report of the APC Committee on True Federalism on Wednesday, at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Abuja. According to him, only true federalism, which has been the sole campaign of the party, can correct what he described as a warped political structure.

6. Suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber, Wednesday attacked the Internally Displaced Persons’ IDP camp in Dalori, Borno state. Confirming the incident to reporters, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, in a statement, said only two of the suicide bombers died in the incident. He, however, said only one person sustained injury in the attack.

7. The Chairman of the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), Bala Takaya, has threatened that the people of North-central zone would not work with other parts of Northern Nigeria in the 2019 general elections. Takaya stated this on Wednesday in Jos while reacting to the incessant herdsmen attacks in the region, saying attack on one was an attack on all.

8. The Senate Committee Chairman, Public Accounts, Senator Matthew Urhoghide has disclosed that his committee has concluded arrangements to probe NNPC’s payment of fuel subsidy despite non provisions in 2016 and 2017 appropriations. Other agencies to answer questions on the sources of funds used for subsidy payment, he said, are the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Federal Ministry of Finance, Office of the Accountant General for the federation and the Auditor General for the federation. The public hearing has been slated for Tuesday next week.

9. The Coalition For Nigeria Movement, CNM, has dismissed insinuation that it was rolling out Obasanjo’s script. The coalition added that it is an independent movement aimed at moving Nigeria forward. Speaking at the launch of CNM in Abuja Wednesday, former governor Oyinlola said the movement was not launched to legitimise OBJ’s legacies.

10. A sergeant simply identified as Timothy has been reportedly shot dead by one Corporal Adamu over love affairs. Adamawa police spokesperson, Othman Abubakar confirmed the death of the officer to newsmen on Wednesday. He said the officers were arguing over the corporal’s girlfriend when he shot him with his rifle. The incident happened on Tuesday at a bar in Madagali Local Government Area of the state.
