1. A Second Republic Lawmaker, Junaid Muhammed, has declared that the North cannot produce a consensus candidate because the region is divided. Muhmamed also insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari should not continue in office after his tenure elapses.

2. Alhaji Aminu Yusuf, deputy chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger state has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Mrs Fatima Tijani, National Women Leader of the APC, was among the bigwigs that received Yusuf and 35,000 other defectors into the party in Minna on Saturday.

3. Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello has declared that 24 governors under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are supporting President Muhammadu Buhari to return to power in 2019. He made the disclosure on Saturday in Lokoja, the state capital, at a grand rally to welcome People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members who defected to the APC.

4. Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has formally reacted to the report of alleged plot to impeach his deputy, Prince Eze Madumere. He said such an impeachment would be of no political benefit to him or anybody else. Okorocha, who spoke during the weekend through his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, described the report of the purported impeachment plot as disdainful and ridiculous.

5. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has blamed his predecessor, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi for the protest embarked upon by school pupils in Port Harcourt. Speaking for the first time since the protest, Governor Wike said the protest was arranged by the Ameachi-led All Progressives Congress in the state.

6. The federal government through the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has apologised to Air Peace Airlines and its passengers after a herd of cattle strayed onto the runway of Akure Airport in Ondo state, which prevented an Air Peace flight from Lagos from landing. But FAAN in a statement signed by its General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, said normalcy was restored quickly, as officers of the aviation security department quickly dispersed the cows from the runway and the aircraft was cleared for landing.

7. The Peace Corps of Nigeria, PCN, has reacted the report that its bill before President Muhammadu Buhari for assent has been rejected. Reacting to the report, Patriot Millicent Umoru, Corps Public Relations Officer, said the presidency is yet to notify them of the alleged rejection, insisting that the corps bill was not part of the recently rejected bills.

8. The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Saturday, visited Sokoto as part of efforts to reconcile warring factions of the APC in the North-West. Tinubu, who is the Head of the Presidential Reconciliation Committee of the APC, met Governor Aminu Tambuwal and his predecessor, Senator Aliyu Wamakko.

9. The Joint Action Committee, the umbrella body for the striking non-teaching workers in Nigerian universities, said on Saturday that it had written fresh letters to the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Labour, where it has resolved not to suspend its 75-day strike unless its agitations were met. This was disclosed by Samson Ugwuoke, JAC President.

10. Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Media and Publicity has refuted reports that his principal’s daughter is betrothed to a muslim. Akande , while clarifying the speculation explained that Damilola was not getting married to a muslim and that Oluseun is a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
