1. Leader of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), Alhaji Balarabe Musa, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari, not to stand for re-election next year.

Musa said Buhari’s administration had failed to protect Nigerians from poverty and security challenges in the country.

2. President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that terrorism financing must be curtailed in order to halt senseless killings by extremists.

The President maintained that “concerted efforts must be made to not only dismantle the network between transnational organised crimes and terrorist organisations, but also to block the payment of ransom to terrorist groups.”

3. A former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Basheer Lado has decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with thousands of supporters.

Lado, who represented Kano Central from 2011 to 2015, lost to the former Governor, Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso during the 2015 general elections

4. Iyabo Obasanjo, first child of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has berated supporters of the Buhari administration for recycling a letter she wrote in 2013 in defence of the Jonathan government.

Senator Obasanjo, now a university professor based in Virginia, United States, backed her father’s statement on Buhari and accused the government of failing to adequately address the fundamental issues the ex-leader raised.

5. The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has said that they would do anything to resist Federal Government’s plans to establish cattle colonies and the ban on open grazing as passed by the Taraba State government.

Speaking through its North East Chairman, Alhaji Mafindi Danburam, the group said open grazing was the tradition of a Fulani man and no had the right to stop anyone from practicing their traditions, adding that colony was not their culture.

6. The late former Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Deji Tinubu, will be buried on January 30.

Tinubu, the Special Adviser on Commerce, Industry and Cooperative to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, slumped and died on Thursday in the Epe area of Lagos State.

7. Leaders of ethnic groups in Benue State, including the Mdzough U Tiv, Idoma National Forum and Omi Ny’Igede, have called for the resignation of minister of defence, Mansur Dan-Ali.

The groups in a statement signed by President General of Mdzough U Tiv, Chief Edward Ujege said that the minister’s statement proved suspicion that Fulani herdsmen were sponsored by federal government.

8. Three persons were on Friday night killed, and 12 houses razed in a fresh attack by Fulani herdsmen in Huke village, Miango in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The victims who are between 70 and 100 years were identified as Ahmadu Hwie, Odoh Hwie and Gado Kondo.

9. The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has described the Defence Minister, Mansur Dan-Ali, as a disgrace to democracy.

State Chairman of the APC, Abba Yaro in a statement on Saturday, also called for the resignation of the Defense Minister and an apology to the state.

10. Two South-Africans, who were kidnapped at a mining site in Kaduna State have been rescued by the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT)

The IRT commander, ACP Abba Kyari, on Saturday said that some members of the kidnap gang were also arrested.
