1. Three Catholic reverend sisters and three other females, who were kidnapped by gunmen in Edo State, have been freed by their abductors.

The sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Convent regained their freedom after spending 53 days in the kidnappers’ den.

2. Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, has hit the Federal Government, asserting that Nigerians are currently “jobless, hopeless’’ under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking through his media aide, Paul Ibe, Abubakar stressed that he had become the issue in Nigerian politics because Nigerians had seen him as the best option in the face of the challenges they were facing.

3. Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai has threatened to sack any teacher absent from duty.

El-Rufai, through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, in a statement said any strike embarked upon by the teachers would be considered illegal and would be treated as such.

4. Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo on Sunday warned Nigerians against politicizing the recent killings witnessed in parts of the country, including Benue, Kaduna, Taraba and Rivers States.

He warned those planning to benefit from political killings to stop, adding that this was one of the reasons the Boko Haram menace festered.

5. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of abandoning him and people of the state.

Ortom said that the cabal around the president has been deliberately frustrating the attempt by the state government to present the true picture of what is happening in the state for selfish reasons.

6. Nigeria’s minister of Labour and employment, Dr Chris Ngige says Nigerian workers would smile soon, when they begin to reap an enhanced minimum wage.

Ngige said the National Tripartite Committee set up by President Muhammadu Buhari has swung into action and would likely conclude all arrangement about the minimum wage in the third quarter of 2018.

7. The Kogi Government on Sunday confirmed the compulsory retirement of eight permanent secretaries, some directors and dismissal of 1, 774 others from the state civil service.

The affected staff were served their letters last December through the state Head of Service, Mrs Deborah Ogunmola and the Chairman of the state Civil Service Commission, Mr Ado Shaibu.

8. Lagos lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to order the immediate release of the detained Cameroonian freedom fighters.

He also cautioned against releasing the freedom fighters to Cameroonian President, Paul Biya, warning that “Since the federal government has not succeeded in completely defeating the dreaded Boko Haram sect it should not declare war on the people of Southern Cameroon and thereby further expose the displaced people of Bakassi to reprisal attacks”.

9. The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for handling the incessant slaughtering of people of Benue State by Fulani herdsmen with kid’s gloves.

Chairman of Makurdi branch of the NBA, Emmanuel Agbakor, said the association was disillusioned by the President’s show of apathy in the issue.
