Nigerian military neutralizes 1,937 terrorists, arrests 2,782 suspects
The Defence Headquarters has announced that troops of the Armed Forces and other security agencies, in the third quarter of this year have neutralised a total number of 1,937 terrorists, arrested 2,782 suspects, and rescued 1,854 kidnapped hostages while 65 terrorist commanders were wiped off the battlefield during.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, stated at a news conference in Abuja on Thursday that the offensive actions resulted in the neutralization of several notable terrorist leaders, commanders, and combatants, including Munzir Arika, Sani Dilla (Dan Hausawan Jubillaram), Ameer Modu, Matawal Bitrus, Thomas Benedict, Mohammed Sani, Rimamy (aka Omo), Terkimbi Injoko, Jacob Uzege, and Ibn Kasir.
Others that were neutralized included Kachalla Dan Baleri, Kachallah Halilu (Buzu), Kachalla Dan Ali Garin Fadama, Kachalla Basiru Zakarriya, and Ofem Emmanuel Igwe.
He also revealed that forces recovered 1,304 firearms and 43,347 rounds of ammunition, as well as denying the oil thieves an estimated N13 billion (N13,081,605,534.00).
General Buba went on to say that with the assistance of state governments, troops will continue to escalate their struggle against terrorists and violent extremists until they are fully defeated.
