Nigerian Man Gets Approval, Aims for World Record with 145-Hour Reading Marathon

John Obot, a Nigerian man, is embarking on a remarkable mission to set a new world record by conducting a 145-hour reading marathon, promoting the significance of reading.
The marathon is scheduled to take place in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from September 9 to 15, and has been approved by the Guinness World Records.
Obot recently shared his excitement on social media after receiving confirmation from the renowned organization, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to attempt the record.
If successful, Obot will surpass the current record held by Rysbai Isakov from Kyrgyzstan, who spent 124 hours immersed in reading during a marathon held in Bursa, Turkey, from September 22 to 27, 2022.
Obot’s goal of reading continuously for 145 hours demonstrates his determination to claim the title of the world’s longest reading marathon.
Throughout the marathon, he plans to delve into a collection of 25 Nigerian novels, showcasing the rich literary heritage and diversity of his home country.
By selecting these books, Obot aims to celebrate Nigerian literature while emphasizing its value on a global scale.
