Recently, there have been numerous reports of male genital organs disappearing from individuals in various states of Nigeria. A practice that has created a widespread panic in civilians and resulted in mob lynching on alleged suspects finger pointed for the crimes.

However, in an interview quoted from Nigerian publication, Daily Post, a medical expert has provided a medical basis for such instances to happen and be mistaken for a case of voodoo magic.

The health expert, Dr. Kaleb Ugo gave insight into the medical perspective on the matter, squashing the claims of genital organs mysteriously disappearing without any surgical intervention.

According to Dr. Ugo, it is medically implausible for a man’s genital organ to vanish without any surgical procedure, dismissing such allegations as rooted in superstition rather than factual evidence.

Dr. Ugo emphasized that the allegations appear to be based on unfounded beliefs in African magic rather than scientific facts.

He went on to clarify that while there are medical conditions that can result in a reduction in the size of the penis, a complete and sudden disappearance is medically unfounded.

One of the medical conditions mentioned by Dr. Ugo is Peyronie’s disease, which can lead to a decrease in penis size.

Peyronie’s disease involves the formation of scar tissue, known as plaque, within the corpora cavernosa’s lining, called the tunica albuginea.

This condition can result in the shortening of the penis, but it does not cause the organ to disappear entirely.

Dr. Ugo explained that individuals suffering from Peyronie’s disease often observe that their genitals have become shorter than before due to the effects of the condition on the penis.

Another medical factor discussed by Dr. Ugo is erectile dysfunction, a condition where a man experiences prolonged difficulties in achieving and maintaining an erection.

He noted that when a man experiences a lack of regular erections for an extended period, it is possible for the penis to shrink.

Dr. Ugo drew an analogy to explain this phenomenon, stating,

“Just like every other thing, for instance, when your car packs up and you stop using it for six months, you don’t expect it to remain like it was.”

He further elaborated that the elastic tissue responsible for stretching the penis from a flaccid state to an erect state can undergo changes when regular erections cease.
