TBRC, leaders address Nigeria's security challenges

The Tukur Buratai Research Centre, in collaboration with traditional leaders from the South-West, will convene in Kaduna to address Nigeria’s recurring security challenges.

According to NAN reports the five-day retreat will bring together traditional leaders from the geopolitical zone to discuss and propose solutions.

Retired Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman-Kukasheka announced the event in a statement on Sunday, detailing that the retreat will take place from May 20-25 at the Fifth Chukker Polo Resort along Kaduna-Jos Road, Katabu.

The theme for the retreat is “Traditional Institutions and Contemporary Security Challenges in Nigeria.”

Usman-Kukasheka highlighted the critical role traditional rulers play in fostering harmony and security within communities.

“The seminar seeks to address the critical security challenges facing our nation and explore the significant contributions traditional institutions can make towards sustainable peace and stability,” he said.

The retreat will feature presentations from respected intellectuals, academicians, seasoned security experts, and senior retired military officers.

Additionally, a book presentation by an eminent scholar will further enrich the discussions on traditional leadership and security.

Usman-Kukasheka noted the increasing complexity of global threats, emphasizing the need for both national and international cooperation.

“TBRC provides global partners and researchers with a clear pathway for addressing this new, more complex environment and to allow for the agility and creativity necessary to fulfil its mission in a fast-changing world.”

NAN reports that the Tukur Buratai Research Centre focuses on providing strategic peace and security information to the public.

It also trains serving or retired military personnel and interested civilians in peace, security, diplomacy, and development.
