Nigeria confirms 5 fresh COVID-19 cases as toll hits 214

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed five fresh cases of coronavirus in Bauchi and the federal capital territory (FCT), on Saturday evening.

 

Three of the confirmed cases are from Bauchi, while the other two are from the FCT. As of 10:15 pm on April 4, 2020, a total of 214 cases had been confirmed in Nigeria.

Of that figure, four people have died, while 25 others have been discharged. The youngest patient who has recovered after receiving treatment is an eight-week-old female. She was discharged in Lagos on April 3, 2020.

At a press conference earlier on Saturday, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state, expressed optimism that more COVID-19 patients in the state would be discharged soon.

Lagos currently has the highest figure of confirmed cases at 109, while FCT and Osun have 43 and 20 cases, respectively. Eti Osa area of Lagos has been recorded to have the highest number of cases so far.
