NFF the Real Villains of Nigerian Football For Not Hiring Herve Renard

After stunning Argentina in their group opener, Saudi Arabia and its manager, Herve Renard are the recent talk of the town and it’s no wonder for anyone interested in Nigerian football to ask why the Nigerian Football Federation (the NFF in short form) haven’t gone after a manager of such profile.

In their Group C opening at Lusail Stadium, the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia shocked Lionel Messi’s Argentina under the direction of the French tactician.

After Herve Renard led Saudi Arabia to an unexpected 2-1 World Cup victory over Argentina, Nigerian supporters no doubt raised their voices to plead on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to appoint him as the next Super Eagles manager.

Nigerians took on social media to express their opinion that Renard, who guided Zambia and Ivory Coast to the 2021 and 2015 Afcon crowns, may be one to turn around their deteriorating fortunes if he is given the reins.

Herve Renard is no stranger to African football considering he has led Zambia to win the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, led Ivory Coast to win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. He led Saudi Arabia to surprise Argentina at the 2022 World Cup with surprising tactics that even the football world didn’t see coming or expected Saudi Arabia to play in.

Considering Nigeria and the Super Eagles have lofty football aims, Herve Renard is the type of coach Nigeria’s NFF should be considering as manager of the Super Eagles if they weren’t interested in playing politics and being the villains of Nigerian football.

The NFF instead have built itself a profile of going after mediocre coaches who can be bullied and their monthly wages owed while the country’s national team and league remains in shambles and mediocrity.

If the recent failures by the Super Eagles team are anything the NFF should have an eye on its that the Jose Peseiro era is showing no promise whether it’s the actual intention; for the Super Eagles to remain stiff in football or not.
