Newly Elected Ekiti State Governor, Oyebanji Freezes State Accounts
Hours after his inauguration, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji ordered the State’s accounts to be frozen at once.
Biodun Oyebanji was elected governor during the 2022 Ekiti State gubernatorial election and he issued an order to freeze all accounts of the State Government “with immediate effect.”
Mr. Oyebanji issued the directive through a press statement by his chief press secretary, Yinka Oyebode, a few hours after his swearing-in which took place on Sunday, October 16.
“All accounting officers and financial institutions are urged to comply with this directive,” the statement added.
Governor Oyebanji ordered that all financial officers in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) must comply with the directive on the freezing of the accounts.
At the swearing-in of the governor, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, attended the ceremony in Ado-Ekiti, the State Capital, with seven governors of the party, and other dignitaries.
